He started off at TVB hosting a variety of English Pearl lifestyle shows, which required the use of his proficiency in various languages: English, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, and Latin. Chan was born in London to a Hakka family in the United Kingdom. He is the second of four children. His eldest brother is a dentist and youngest brother is still in university. In the UK, Chan's family runs a Chinese restaurant. Chan received a bachelor's degree in modern and classical Chinese at the School of Oriental and African Studies, and a post-graduate diploma in economics at the University of London.[1] During university he had often helped out at his father's restaurant waiting tables, and had taken on various translation jobs. After graduation, Chan worked for two years in hospital management, before finally deciding on a career in TV. In his first year in Hong Kong, Chan worked as an English tutor at his aunt's education centre. In 2005, Chan joined TVB and graduated from TVB's 20th Artist Training Class in 2006. The following few years, Chan hosted a lifestyle show on Pearl and anchored TVB Entertainment News, whilst at the same time taking on various roles in TV dramas. In 2010, Chan was offered his first major role in the sitcom, Be Home for Dinner (2011). In 2012, he was given his first leading role in the drama Missing You. Since 2009, he is rumoured to be dating 2007 Miss Chinese International winner Sarah Song, who lives at different towers within the same residential complex. 10 August 2014, Sarah had posted a photo of herself and Jason Chan. The two were on a dinner together as a celebration of Sarah Song's 29th birthday. In the photo, the sweet couple were smiling happily as the former Miss China International contestant wraps her hand across the Jason's shoulders. Sarah Song captioned her photo, saying, "Thank you for another birthday. More wonderful birthdays ahead...but hopefully not wrinkles." This post was then regarded by the public as her confirmation that she is in fact in a relationship with Jason Chan. In 2018, Jason left TVB.[2] Sarah gave birth to their first baby. She also represented Hong Kong in the Miss World 2013 in which she placed top 12 in the Miss World Talent.
On 16 April 2019, Wong received heavy media exposure for her physical intimacies with married Hong Kong singer and actor Andy Hui. At the time of the incident, Hui was married to singer-actress Sammi Cheng and Wong was in a steady relationship with actor Kenneth Ma. The two shared a taxi ride, where they engaged in intimate acts recorded by the taxi's in-vehicle camera. The video was later made public by various news outlets. The pair was believed to have left the taxi together for Wong's residence. As damage control, Hui immediately made a public apology to his wife and loved ones, citing he was drunk that night but admitted his intoxication was no excuse for his behaviour. Since the scandal broke, Wong has blocked all comments from her social media accounts and later apologized on social media: "I can’t face myself and do not know how to face my family, Kenneth Ma, friends, company and colleagues... I don’t dare to ask everyone for forgiveness, and only beseech everyone to give some space to all the people who have been implicated."Jacqueline's actions made her a social pariah. Her public image has been tarnished and promotions using her image has been removed or blocked. Jacqueline left Hong Kong and stayed in Los Angeles for several months to avoid public scrutiny and tabloids.
Due to the scandal, Wong's role as in Chris Tsui Forensic Heroes IV was taken by good friend Roxanne Tong and scenes with the characters were reshot.
