She graduated from Seoul Sejong High School and later obtained a double bachelor's degree in Political Science and Diplomacy and Psychology from Sungshin Women's University and a master's degree in Broadcasting and Film Studies from Hanyang University.
Her original dream was to become a soldier. She passed the initial screening, but a few days before she was scheduled to take the physical evaluation and interview, KBS informed her she had passed the audition to become an announcer. So, she decided to continue that path and made her debut in 2006 as part of the 32nd open recruitment for announcers at KBS.
She worked as a regional rotation worker at KBS Gangneung Broadcasting Station and in 2010, she married MBC announcer Kim Jung Geun, which at the time, caused a bit of a controversy as it was rare for two announcers from different networks to be in a relationship, much less get married.
She rose to stardom as a KBS announcer after the resignation of senior announcers and frequently appeared on entertainment, educational programs, radio, and various award ceremonies.
She decided to leave KBS in 2014 and became a freelancer. She also ventured into theatrical plays in 2018 and now appears frequently as MC for different shows.
