Ram Chiang started out singing cover songs of other artists before he was invited by George Lam, one of the singers he imitated, to perform alongside him on stage in 1985. During the concert, George Lam gave him the English name "Ram" as opposed to George's "Lam" since "L" and "R" together make a stereo sound.
After this, Ram was signed to Polydor Records in 1985. He became well known for performing classic 90s Hong Kong pop songs such as "You Needn’t Be Acquaintances to Meet with Each Other" (相逢何必曾相識), a duet with Rita Carpio, and "Queen's Road East" (皇后大道東), a collaboration with Lo Ta Yu.
After becoming disenchanted with the Hong Kong music industry, Chiang decided to quit being a singer in the early 1990s and signed with TVB to become an actor. He mostly played supporting roles.
In 2014, his popularity skyrocketed when Wong Cho Lam wrote a role tailor-made for Chiang in "Come On, Cousin". The role won him the "2014 Best Supporting Actor" award at TVB's annual anniversary awards and saw a resurgence in his singing career.
Chiang is married and has a son. He is a private person and does not talk about his family much. Being a devout Christian, Chiang does not attend the blessing ceremonies of any projects he works on, as the blessing ceremony has folk religious connotations incompatible with Christian teachings. It is an industry standard in Hong Kong for the filming cast and crew to offer incense to the gods to ask for their blessings of safety and smooth production during filming.

He speaks Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. Ma is currently under the management of TVB. The youngest of a three-child family, he has older twin sisters. He attended Delia International School before immigrating with his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1992. After attending one semester at Douglas College, he transferred to the University of British Columbia majoring in Mechanical engineering. During college, Ma joined an acting troupe that would perform sketches. After graduating from college in 1998, Ma and his entire family decided to return to Hong Kong. When Ma returned to Hong Kong he initially worked at glass manufacture as a quality surveillance inspector but found his job boring. Hoping to find something more of his interest he sent out over 70 resumes but only received a response from TVB for an interview notice to their 14th Artist Training Class. In the beginning, his career at TVB was often playing supporting roles as extras, passers-by, and fill-ins. One of Ma's early roles was playing the giant cockroach Sui Kung in Dayo Wong's music video "Blue Sky". However, within 5 years since graduating from TVB's training course, the company started to promote him when he was chosen as one of the S4's for 2003's drama Triumph in the Skies and later as one of the six sui sangs to be the "Olympic 6" (the others being Sammul Chan, Ron Ng, Bosco Wong, Raymond Lam and Lai Lok Yi) during the 2004 Athens Olympic games. In 2006, he won the Most Improved Actor award at the 2006 TVB Anniversary Awards. He was handed his first leading role in the drama serial Survivor's Law II opposite Hong Kong singer Ella Koon. The drama aired in 2008 and achieved favorable ratings and reception. Ma's role in The Hippocratic Crush earned him awards both from Malaysia (Most Favorite Leading Actor) and Hong Kong (Most Favorite Male Character). In 2013 after starring in Triumph in the Skies II, Ma caught the eye of international star Jackie Chan and was invited to star in the romantic comedy Fate Is a Game. In 2017, he starred in the critically acclaimed 'The Exorcist's Meter' and he won Most Favourite TV Male Character award at the TVB Anniversary Awards 2017 for his popular role as 'Ma Kwai' in that series. It is his second win in that category. Acknowledging his strong performance in that series, Kenneth Ma is labeled as the citizen's best actor pick and became a strong contender for Best Actor award in the TVB Anniversary Awards 2017, but he lost to the eventual winner, Vincent Wong. Ma met Jacqueline Wong in 2015 during the filming of Inspector Gourmet. The two announced their relationship in 2017 but broke up after Wong was discovered to be cheating on him with married star Andy Hui in April 2019. Throughout his upbringing, Man Yeung frequently traveled between Hong Kong and the United States, attending multiple schools. In 1989, he was formally brought back to settle in New York's Chinatown by his aunt, who wanted to provide him with a better education. He completed his high school and university education locally and acquired skills in hairdressing during this period. Later, Yang Zhenghua worked part-time as a hairstylist in a Chinatown salon, eventually becoming a full-fledged hairstylist after completing his apprenticeship.
He began working in Chinatown in 1991 and had previously become a child star contract actor in 1989. However, being underage at the time, he did not pursue a career in the entertainment industry. After reaching adulthood, he could not forget his passion for the entertainment industry. Encouraged by the owner of the Chinatown salon, he decided to return to Hong Kong and join the entertainment industry.
In 1996, he participated in the 15th Global Chinese New Talent Singing Championship held in New York and won the local championship. Later that year, he returned to Hong Kong and joined TVB as a contracted actor.
Before 1997, Man Yeung had already opened a hair salon while living in the United States. After returning to Hong Kong, he ventured into the dessert and ramen business. In 2009, he opened the dessert shop "Sweet Mama" on Kimberley Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong. The following year, he co-founded the group-buying company BEECRAZY, which was successfully acquired by an Australian consortium in 2014 but closed down in 2016. In 2011, Man Yeung opened another dessert shop called "Golden Sugar" on Hillwood Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, but the shop has since closed. In October of the same year, he opened a seafood restaurant on Prat Avenue in Jordan, Hong Kong, becoming the exclusive distributor of Yung Kee's hairy crab in Hong Kong. Before the end of 2018, he owned three "Grandpa Porridge Handmade Hot Pot" restaurants. Currently, he is involved in a pet-related business with friends. He also partnered with his wife and friends to open "In Kitchen II COOK" in Tai Koo, specializing in kitchenware and food products.
In August 2015, Man Yeung registered marriage with actress Janice Shum, and the two have since welcomed two sons, born in 2016 and 2018.
