She retired from the Chinese entertainment scene in the late 1990s when Chow and her longtime partner, Joe Ngai, emigrated to Vancouver, Canada. However, she still makes frequent trips to Hong Kong to visit her family and to support animal-rights charities.

He left the China Star Entertainment Group in the same year and joined Emperor Motion Pictures, an affiliate of the Emperor Group, only to leave after a few years.
In 2015, Patrick Tam won the "Outstanding Supporting Actor Award" at the San Diego Film Festival for the film "Let's Stop the War," as well as the "Best Actor Award" at the New York Film Festival. Later, he won the "Outstanding Actor Award" in the competition at the Depth of Field International Film Festival in the United States.
In 2020, Patrick Tam established his own YouTube channel and performed a cover of "Song of the Long Night" to encourage healthcare workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
From 1999 to 2000, Patrick Tam was in a relationship with Sharon Chan. Later, he began dating Fiona, who worked as the owner of a beauty salon. They got married at the end of 2003 and have two children.
