Rainie Yang is a Taiwanese singer, actress, and host born in Beitou, Taipei, Taiwan, with ancestral roots in Hapu, Guangdong, China. She attended Hwa Kang Arts School for high school and came from a single-parent family, relying on her mother and sister while facing financial difficulties.
After her parents' divorce in 1997, her mother was burdened with debt, but Rainie remained focused on her dream of becoming an artist. Despite numerous setbacks in talent shows, she succeeded in the "Healthy Beauty Girl" selection and reached the finals.
In May 1999, while attending Bei’an Junior High School, Yang won the "Taipei City Anti-Drug Makeup Talent Competition." She signed with a talent agency that year, but early feedback on her recordings was mostly negative.
In 2000, she joined the girl group 4 in Love, which released two albums before disbanding in 2002. In 2003, Yang signed with Sony BMG.
While studying at Huaguang Academy of Art, she dated artist Alien Huang for two years. On September 16, 2017, Yang confirmed her relationship with Li Rong Hao, and they married on September 17, 2019, in Anhui Province.
