Jang Jae Hyun is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He graduated from Daeyoung High School and later obtained two bachelor's degrees, one in Film Studies from Sungkyunkwan University and another in Film from the Korea National University of Arts. He made his debut in 2009 when he acted and directed a short film titled "Malley from India" (인도에서 온 말리). After another short film the following year, he served as an assistant director in 2011 for feature films "Themselves" and "S.I.U" (특수본 ). In 2014, he began getting recognized as an outstanding director when he won the Best Film in The Extreme Nightmare section at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival and the Best Director Award (Korean Competition For Shorts) at the 15th Jeonju International Film Festival, both with the short film "12th Assistant Deacon".
