Oikawa Mitsuhiro, born in Ota, Tokyo, is a Japanese musician, singer-songwriter, composer and actor. He is a graduate of Seijo University, Faculty of Law. Until 2015, he was represented by Mother Enterprise. His current agency is Horipro, which he has been in partnership since July 2012. Okikawa's entertainment career began as a stage theater actor through his band activities. His debut as a singer came in 1996 with single "Morality". His appearance in "With Love " (1998) marked the start of his acting career. He was awarded with New Actor award at the 17th edition of Television Drama Academy Awards for his debut act. Notably, he played the role of Kanbe Takeru from season 8 to 10 of the popular long-running detective drama "AIBOU". In his acting career, Oikawa has co-starred numerous times with Karasawa Toshiaki. The two share a great personal and professional relationship, Oikawa even addresses Karasawa as "Aniki" (lit. elder brother). They also share common hobbies, and both are known as the fans of Takarazuka Revue troupe, and occasionally visit Tokyo Takarazuka Theater. He was married to actress Dan Rei who is a former member of Takarazuka Revue though he never saw her live stage performance during her time with the troupe. Their marriage lasted from July 2011 to November 2018. Oikawa is an avid fan of Gundam and Kamen Rider series.
