Jackson Wang JiaEr is a singer, rapper, dancer, and fencer from Hong Kong. He is a member of the South Korean group GOT7, which debuted on January 16th, 2014, under JYP Entertainment. He is in charge of rap and martial arts tricking. Before joining GOT7, Jackson was also a former national fencer (sabre) of the Hong Kong fencing team. He was ranked 11th in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics and eventually won first place at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship in 2011. Jackson's father is Wang Rui Ji, former coach of the Hong Kong national fencing team and a one time winner in Asian Games 1978. His mother is Zhou Ping, a gold medalist at the World Gymnastics Championships in 1982. Jackson had received training in gymnastics together with his brother and won 1st place in the acrobatic gymnastics championship for the mixed pair category when he was 9 years old before switching to fencing. Jackson started his fencing career when he was 10. The first time his father brought him to a match, Jackson immediately fell in love with fencing and confidently said it's the sport of his life. Since then, he has been trained by his own father as well as other professional coaches and achieved multiple awards and winnings for Hong Kong national fencing team. Jackson attended American International School in Hong Kong since primary. Jackson was scouted by JYP Entertainment among 2000 other contestants in 2010. He wanted to become a trainee, but his parents were against it at first. His father made a deal that he would let him go to Korea if Jackson can be the best fencer in Asia. Jackson eventually won first place at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championship. Jackson came to Korea on July 3rd, 2011, and became a JYP trainee for 2 and a half years before his debut in GOT7.
