Bai Yu (English name: Johnny), born in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, is a Chinese actor. He graduated from the Central Academy of Drama with a bachelor’s degree in performance. In 2014, Bai made his acting debut in the web drama "0.5 Diors". In 2015 Bai starred in the emotional and inspirational youth medical drama “Grow Up”, portraying a rebellious yet realistic intern. The same year he was cast in two modern romance dramas “Above the Clouds” and “Hello, Joann”. In 2016 Bai gained wide recognition with his role in the anti-Japanese drama “Young Marshal”. His recognition further grew with his supporting role in the hit romance comedy drama “Love O2O”. He was then cast as the lead in the crime mystery web drama “Memory Lost” based on a novel of the same name by Ding Mo. The series was well received in China and increased Bai’s popularity. That same year, he appeared along side Zhu Yilong in the web drama “Guardian” based on Priest’s novel of the same name. In 2019, Bai made his first appearance in CCTV’s Spring Gala, performing the song item “Child of Generation”. The same year, he starred in the republican era drama “Detective Li” for which he got the Best Actor nomination for the Golden Bud-The Fourth Network Film and Television Festival. He was also featured in the family drama “Looking Up” which earned him the ‘Breakthrough Film Actor’ at the Tencent Vido All Star Awards as well as the award for ‘Film A Watch drama online for free.
